Probably more than a year ago a friend gifted us with a bar of soap from the Rocky Mountain Soap Company.  It was this lovely cinnamon orange soap, and the specialness of the soap isn’t just in how it works, but also in what’s not in it.  (Really, if I was left to my own devices I would have loads more from this shop than I do).  Recently, you might have seen my recipe for Glorious Bruschetta-Style Tomato Flax Flatbread (Gluten Free!), in which I mentioned a trip to Banff.  Well, this was another stop along that same trip.  We stopped in Banff for dinner after walking around Lake Louise, and the Rocky Mountain Soap Company has a store there (I’ve discovered that a lot of things in Alberta are named after the Rocky Mountains, and I don’t mind one bit!).  When we went there, I picked up a few things that I wanted to share with you today! I love this time of year because it means apples upon apples upon apples are in the store!  And what’s better, there’s no end of good things that you can make with them!  (Outside of just eating them out of hand; which is a completely acceptable way of eating them too).  Some apple dishes require certain apples to be their star, based on texture or how well they hold together, etc.  But, this little gem of an apple dish doesn’t discriminate.  You can just use any lovely apple you have ready at hand, and it will fit the bill. Hello!

Since its Wednesday again, and I haven’t done one for a little bit, I thought I’d share a recipe with you that you can use if you are completing the Candida Cleanse diet.  You always see things like this in the store in the organics section and you secretly think “why am I spending 5 dollars on this…I feel like I could make it myself”.  But then you have doubts like “what if there’s some secret thing you need to do to make apples into butter” or “Is there dairy in this?  Why is it called ‘butter’?” or “they’re charging me 5 dollars, it must be very hard to make.”  All of these are not true of this recipe!  This is the most sweet, thick and bursting-with-apple-glory butter you will come across, and it’s so easy!  So many breakfasts during the last 20 days of the cleanse are made brighter with a little apple butter.  It can perk up even the most healthy-tasting of spelt soda breads with ease. Hello! *waves*  I have something wonderful to share with you today!  On Labor Day I was gifted with a large basket of tiny tomatoes from my mother in law, and I wanted to think of something lovely to do with them, seeing as they were a special treat for us.  Usually, you don’t buy little tomatoes in large quantities, you just buy a pint and then put them on your salad and that’s the end of it.  But, I didn’t want to miss this really great opportunity to capitalize on how many of them there were!   Continue reading

Hello everyone!  For today’s post, I wanted to share something that preserves the feelings of holiday breakfasts and summer flavors, but could be made on any day of the week.  It doesn’t need a lot of special ingredients or time, but you won’t be disappointed with the results.  (I could have eaten the whole pan on my own if I’d wanted).  It’s a little spicy, full of savory flavors, and can easily be changed depending on your preference.  Now, don’t let the main ingredient be off-putting.  This ingredient is versatile and adaptable, but Continue reading
